In the morning, we ran into a local tour provider. He have us a lot of helpful tips for the rest of the day. He also introduced us to our first Bangkok scam! We were offered a $20 baht Tuk Tuk ride to a store that sold suits (we didn't really understand where we were going hehe dumb tourists we are). We had to walk inside the shop to look at the fabrics and the knock off suits, and after saying "no not interested" for the 10th time, we were taken back to some better areas in Bangkok!
At around noon we made our way to Pratunam Market. I think we were the only white people there, we definitely had a bit of culture shock. It was a great experience though! Just many crowded roads where Thais did a lot of their shopping.
Next we made our way by Tuk Tuk to Khoa San road. What was a 10 minutes drive during the Thai holidays the past few days, turned out to be an hour Tuk Tuk ride when everyone was back to the hustle and bustle of Bangkok!
Along the way we passed by some of the former protest sites which have now all been centralized to Lumphini Park. On that note, we haven't seen a single protester and have felt 100% safe the entire time. The only time we saw a small glimpse of the protesters was when we passed Lumphini park on the sky train.
We did some shopping and stopped to enjoy our favourite, Chang Beer!
Look at the sweaty messes that we are!
Next we enjoyed a lupper pre-MBK fight night. We enjoyed "Tom Kha Gai" (spicy chicken soup with coconut milk, lemongrass, galangal and Kaffir lime leaves) and "Gang Kiee Wan" (Thai green curry with chicken, chillies and sweet basil in coconut milk).
After lupper, we headed to MBK centre for MBK fight night! From 6-8:30 PM every Wednesday, they have a free fight night. The show was awesome! It was traditional Maui Thai fighting so it was a little more extreme than we are used to!
After that, it was back to the hostel to pack up our stuff!
We spent our last few hours having a traditional Thai massage. For those who have never experienced one, they literally walk on top of you! I know many people probably love that, but it was awful! LOL! Just another Bangkok experience for the books though! I'll stick to the Thai foot massages for the rest of the trip!
