Our Taste of Ottawa's Best Thai Food

Well it's Friday night, so I guess that calls for a good excuse for date night! In anticipation of our upcoming trip to Thailand, we thought it would be fun to go to Aiyara Thai Cuisine for a dinner date.

I came down with a yucky head cold today, but I thought some yummy Thai spice might help to clear it out! I have had a few work lunches at Aiyara but hubby has never tasted Thai food. He is also not a huge fan of Asian cuisine, while I love it, so I was curious to know what he would think!

To start, we each ordered Singha, which is an imported Thai beer.

For appetizers, we ordered 3 plates: summer rolls, money balls, and chicken satay. All were very good but money balls were by far my favourite!

And finally, our main courses! I really did plan on being adventurous and trying a new Thai dish but... I went with my comfort food: Pad Thai. Of course, it was incredible! Jake asked for our waitress' recommendation and she suggested a coconut curry pork dish over a bed of sticky rice. It was a tad bit spicy but O.M.G so good! When we return, I will be sure to order this dish! And of course, we stuffed ourselves with the beer, apps, and our main courses so we had to say no to dessert.

This was definitely a fun dinner date before our Thai adventure! The food was full of flavour and I loved the little details which added to the atmosphere of the restaurant: the elephant utensils, Thai decor throughout, beautiful purple linen on the tables and chairs, and hand carved fruits and veggies in the form of flowers and elephants! We are now talking about a Thai restaurant crawl in Ottawa... stay tuned for the next restaurant post!
